"I am not a spokesperson for the company in question" - this is how Sali Berisha responded today when asked about the change of argument by the lobbying company Continental Strategy in its letter to US Senator Mario Rubio. Initially, the company had stated that Berisha was not active in politics, but then changed its position, saying that he is politically active, but not part of the government.
The leader of the Democratic Party did not even answer the question of how much was spent on this lobbying, stating that "I myself have not spent a single penny."
Following the press conference, Berisha called the model with which, according to him, tourism is being developed in Albania “narco-tourism”. He accused the government of using dirty money, which is severely damaging the tourism industry. According to him, under the slogan of “elite tourism”, Albania offers dishes that cost up to 200 euros and tents at catastrophic prices, while the construction of million-dollar resorts on the coast has degraded domestic tourism.
Although he did not mention any specific names of the builders, Berisha called them destroyers of tourism and criticized the government-affiliated media that, according to him, "promote the blues of the south" but do not show the painful truth that Albanian tourism is experiencing.
