Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that the issue of liberating Crimea occupied by Russia is not currently part of the negotiations, even though the peninsula remains an integral part of Ukrainian territory.
In an interview with Fox News, Zelensky was asked whether the Crimea issue had returned to the negotiating agenda, and he replied that at the moment this issue had not been discussed.
"It's a pity, no. We'll see, I don't know. The land is very important, it's our territory, it's our history, it's about our homes. But the most important thing is not to lose people," the Ukrainian president said.
Zelensky also announced that during his recent meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House, discussions focused on strengthening Ukraine's air defense, including licenses for the production of Patriot interceptor missiles, as well as other initiatives that could help Kiev.
The meeting between the two leaders took place behind closed doors, without the presence of the media and without public statements after its conclusion. Zelensky stayed at the White House for more than an hour.
Earlier, the Ukrainian president had stated that the main priorities of his visit to the US were strengthening capacities to counter ballistic attacks and deepening strategic cooperation between Ukraine and the United States.
