US President Donald Trump has stated that the United States must maintain an advantage over China in the fields of artificial intelligence and cryptocurrencies, describing these technologies as crucial to the world's economic and strategic future.
In an interview with Punchbowl News, Trump said that Washington cannot allow Beijing to take the lead in the development of artificial intelligence or the cryptocurrency market.
"We don't want to see China take over cryptocurrencies. I don't want to see China win with AI," the US president said.
Trump argued that the US is currently ahead in the race for artificial intelligence, stressing that the country that leads this sector will have great global influence in the coming years.
According to him, artificial intelligence will have an even greater impact than the internet and will transform the way economies and societies function.
The US president also spoke about the growing use of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, saying that digital payments are becoming increasingly common, while the use of physical cash is declining.
Trump also emphasized the importance of data centers in the development of artificial intelligence, saying that investments in this sector could bring huge revenues and strengthen the US position in global competition.
"We can't let China beat us on this," Trump concluded.
