56 students of the Security Academy ended up with symptoms of food poisoning after consuming food, while the National Food Authority has officially reacted to the incident.
According to the AKU announcement, immediately after receiving information about the case, verifications were carried out at the entity “SORI-AL”, the company that provides catering services at the Security Academy in Sauk. According to the AKU, the food was produced at the premises of the “Skënderbej” garrison at the Armed Forces Academy in Tirana and then distributed to the academy.
During the inspection of the kitchen located within the premises of the Security Academy, inspectors found pilaf, pasta, beans, sausage and ready-to-serve open yogurt. Of these products, 85.9 kilograms of food were blocked and samples were taken for microbiological analysis, which were sent to the ISUV laboratory. The AKU reported that the entity was operating under appropriate hygienic and sanitary conditions, but during the inspections, the lack of a functional and complete food product traceability system was identified.
For this reason, an administrative measure of a fine of 100 thousand lek was imposed on the entity "SORI-AL".
Meanwhile, the results of laboratory tests are awaited to determine the cause of the students' poisoning.
