The mother of one of the minors who lost their lives in the tragic accident in Durrës has spoken to Euronews Albania journalist Matilda Braho about the event that has shocked their family. In a live broadcast for the show "Now" with Erla Mëhilli, the mother gave details about the tragic day they had spent together until moments before the fatal accident.
The mother stated that she and her son had been to church and then returned home. According to her, her minor son had insisted on going out to eat ice cream and play with his friends near the house on the sidewalk where the incident occurred. She further explained how she learned of the incident after she entered the apartment moments before the tragedy occurred.
"We were just leaving for church, we arrived at the church and lit the candles with the son. The son was happy that he lit the candles and spent a beautiful and good day there with the children. The children were happy. When we got home it was 1 o'clock, I made bread for the son, he asked me for bread.
"As soon as the boy ate the bread, mom said, I'm going outside, I'm going to get some ice cream. As soon as the boy came out, I went inside. I won't be late, mom said. I said, where are you going? In five minutes, mom told me that I'll be out, she said, with a friend. I said, don't be late, mom, I won't be late. You know, she said, I won't be late. You worry about me, she said," she said.
Regarding the perpetrator of the accident, the mother has appealed for justice to punish him to the maximum extent and not to release him to commit other such crimes.
"My call is to put him in prison, that kind of criminal does not deserve to be free, that criminal should stay in prison forever and not be let out whenever he pleases," she said, among other things. /Taken from Euronews.al
