A serious incident was recorded on Saturday evening in Berlin, where a vehicle crashed into a crowd participating in the celebrations of the Pride event (Christopher Street Day), causing one victim and at least 16 injuries.
According to German authorities, the incident occurred around 10 p.m. in the Lennestrasse area. After hitting pedestrians, the vehicle crashed into a tree, while its driver managed to flee the scene.
Three of the injured are in critical condition, while emergency teams and police immediately intervened to provide first aid to the injured and secure the area.
Berlin police have launched a large-scale operation to capture the perpetrator and have released a photograph of the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Abdul B. According to authorities, he is a person known to the police and is suspected of having ties to Islamic circles.
Investigations are ongoing to clarify the motives of the incident and to determine whether it was a deliberate act.
