Albanian boxer Kristian Prenga has reacted for the first time after his knockout loss to Briton Anthony Joshua, apologizing to Albanian fans and admitting that he failed to meet expectations.
Prenga started the fight in spectacular fashion, knocking down Joshua twice in the first round and giving the impression that he could pull off one of boxing's biggest upsets. However, the Briton responded strongly and ended the fight in the second round with a knockout.
After the match, the Albanian boxer said he accepts the result and described Joshua's victory as part of God's plan.
"Congratulations to him. It wasn't my night. It was God's plan for him to win. I'm fine and I accept what happened. I thought I could do the same thing in the next round, but it didn't happen," Prenga said.
He also thanked the fans for their support and apologized for the result.
"I only had 10 percent of the fans, but if this match was played in Europe, I promise you there would be 90 percent more. What I can say is: I'm sorry everyone. I didn't make you proud, but next time," he declared.
Meanwhile, Anthony Joshua is expected to return to the ring very soon, where he will reportedly face his compatriot Tyson Fury in one of the most anticipated boxing duels.
