The battle with the fires continues to be difficult this Wednesday in Gramsh, where the flames, which spread massively the day before, have engulfed several villages and destroyed homes. At least 32 residents have spent the night in dormitories in the city of Gramsh, after being forced to evacuate.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the situation in Gramsh remains critical. Three helicopters of the Armed Forces are conducting aerial operations to extinguish the flames. Due to the approaching fire, the residents of the village of Nartë have left their homes after the evacuation order.
Two villages, Shëmbërdhenj and Bletas, have been completely destroyed, while the flames continue to spread to other areas, including Mukaj and Sojnik, where areas of bushes and brambles are burning.
Fires are also active in other areas of the country:
Hormovo, Tepelena – the danger to homes has been averted, but firefighting work continues.
Germenji Natural Park, Kolonjë – fire is active in pine forests. Difficult terrain and ammunition explosions in the perimeter of the flames make direct intervention impossible, being kept under constant monitoring.
Ferraj and Zall-Herr, Tirana – fires are being kept under control.
Kryevidh, Rrogozhinë – about 100 hectares and two uninhabited houses have burned.
Xath Village, Fushë Arrëz and Bizë, Martanesh – powerful fires in difficult mountainous terrain.
In total, over 10,000 emergency forces are on the ground to bring under control the numerous fires, spread over a significant part of the territory, with the help of Armed Forces aircraft.
This is one of the most serious cases of wildfires in the country in recent years, while authorities appeal for maximum caution and full cooperation from citizens to avoid danger to life and property.
