Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted to the debate on the magistrates' salary system, inviting the leaders of judicial institutions to a joint working roundtable.
Through a post on the social network X, Rama called on the leaders of the two councils and other justice institutions to respond positively to the invitation, with the aim of finding a sustainable and long-term solution.
According to the Prime Minister, the solution should guarantee magistrates a stable salary system, but at the same time maintain the overall balance of the state salary pyramid.
Rama announced that the roundtable will also welcome the participation of experts from the Council of Europe, as well as the contribution of the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice.
The Prime Minister emphasized that magistrates today enjoy a high degree of independence and are treated with the highest salaries in the country, as well as among the highest in the region. According to him, this is the result of the will of the governing majority.
Rama stated that the government does not seek conflict with the judiciary, but institutional cooperation in respect of mutual independence.
"If we have disagreements, it is up to us to handle them with wisdom and patience, setting an example of state dignity for our citizens and Albania's partners," Rama writes.
