Nenad Rashic, from the For Freedom, Justice and Survival party, was elected deputy speaker of the Kosovo Assembly, after the failure of nine proposals from the Serbian List and the transition to the election of the deputy speaker through a lottery procedure.
With 71 votes in favor, 9 against and 24 abstentions, he became one of the five vice presidents of the Assembly of Kosovo.
In addition to votes from deputies of the Vetëvendosje Movement and some of the deputies of the non-majority non-Serb communities, he also secured the votes of deputies of the Democratic League of Kosovo.
Deputies from the Democratic Party of Kosovo and those from the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo abstained, while the Serb List voted against.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Dimal Basha, declared the Assembly of Kosovo constituted and also closed the session.
This means that the way is now open for the formation of the country's new government, many months after the February 9 elections./REL
