As of today, the agreement on free movement between Kosovo and Albania is temporarily suspended. From October 1st until early November, border crossing without checks at the Vërmicë-Morinë point will be suspended.
During this period, the border authorities of both countries will resume processing passenger and driver data, but through an expedited procedure, in order to avoid long waits and queues, especially due to the high flow in this segment.
However, on weekends and during official holidays, citizens traveling in vehicles with Kosovo or Albanian license plates will continue to cross the border without being subject to checks.
This agreement, designed to ease circulation and reduce traffic, has been particularly effective during the summer tourist season, when the number of movements reaches its peak. Its application period usually extends from May 1 to September 30.
In total, for 9 months of the year, citizens of both countries enjoy a facilitated transit regime, while for 3 months, like the current one, standard border controls are implemented.
