Barcelona is facing a complicated financial situation, despite the Catalan club having recorded more than 1 billion euros in revenue in a single season for the first time in its history.
According to financial data for the 2025/2026 season, Barcelona generated around 1.06 billion euros in revenue, a historic record for the club. However, the final balance was not positive, as Barça recorded a loss of around 18 million euros after taxes.
The main problem remains debt. The club's gross debt, according to published data, reached 910 million euros by June 30, 2026. But to this figure is added about 1.5 billion euros issued to finance the stadium works, bringing the total debt to about 2.41 billion euros.
The majority of the liabilities are related to the Espai Barça project and the Spotify Camp Nou reconstruction. The stadium project has created a special financing structure, which according to the club will be repaid through the income that the stadium itself will generate.
However, financial pressure remains high. Barcelona has also announced that it will seek authorization to extend the loan by up to 300 million euros to complete the stadium. The operation is expected to be structured through Goldman Sachs.
Interest costs are also increasingly weighing on the club. The increase in debt related to Espai Barça has affected the club's liquidity and has meant that financial obligations remain one of the main problems for the Catalan leaders.
At the same time, Barcelona has managed to significantly increase its revenue. The return to Spotify Camp Nou, increased sponsorships and revenue from product sales have helped the club pass the 1 billion euro revenue mark for the first time. For the 2026/2027 season, Barcelona expects to reach around 1.195 billion euros in revenue.
But the figures show a paradox: Barcelona is earning more money than ever before, but at the same time is facing an extremely high level of debt.
According to published data, net debt according to LaLiga criteria has increased to 607 million euros, while the club's net assets remain negative, at around 168 million euros.
Barcelona's leaders hope that a full return to Camp Nou and maximum use of the new stadium will bring in hundreds of millions of euros in additional revenue each year and help pay down debt.
However, a major challenge remains before the club's leaders: to manage the debt created by Espai Barça, complete the financing of the stadium and at the same time maintain the team's sporting competitiveness.
