Carlos Tevez will end his football career with a special farewell match at La Bombonera in December. The former Argentine striker has received approval to hold the match at Boca Juniors' stadium and has already started thinking about the names he wants on the pitch.
At the heart of the project are two of the biggest names in world football: Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Tevez aims to invite both legends and has even expressed his desire for them to play in the same team, creating a spectacular moment at La Bombonera.
The idea is not new. In an interview given in 2025, Tevez had stated that he wanted to bring Messi and Ronaldo together in his farewell match. "Leo Messi, Cristiano... we will bring them. I will go and get them myself," the former Argentine footballer had said, also revealing that he had their contacts on WhatsApp.
Tevez has a special bond with both stars. He played with Messi for many years in the Argentina national team, while he shared the dressing room with Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United, during the period 2007-2009. Together at Old Trafford, they won important titles, including the Premier League and the Champions League.
In addition to Messi and Ronaldo, Tevez also thought about a long list of legends he played with during his career. Among the names mentioned are Wayne Rooney, Edwin van der Sar, Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra, Andrea Pirlo, Paul Scholes, Gianluigi Buffon, Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and Juan Roman Riquelme.
Tevez, one of Boca Juniors' greatest icons, officially retired from professional football in 2022, after a long and successful career in Argentina, England and Italy. After leaving playing football, he devoted himself to coaching, managing Rosario Central and Independiente, while also working with Talleres.
If the plan goes through and Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo accept the invitation, "El Apache's" farewell match at La Bombonera could turn into one of the most special football events, with the two historical rivals of modern football sharing the same field for the rare time, and potentially even the same team.
