Alvaro Morata has admitted that he enjoyed Jose Mourinho's reaction after Real Madrid's defeat to Real Betis, stressing that the Portuguese coach always adds a dose of spectacle to Spanish football.
The Leganes striker and former Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid player spoke about Mourinho's comments after the 1-0 defeat to Betis, which was the first defeat for the Madrid team since the Portuguese coach returned to the team's bench.
Morata, who has known Mourinho well since his first spell at Real Madrid, did not hide his satisfaction with the way the coach reacted after the match. According to him, Mourinho's strong statements and characteristic way of dealing with tense situations make Spanish football even more attractive.
"I was waiting for him to say something like that, because it makes me laugh," Morata said, referring to Mourinho's press conference after the defeat to Betis.
In that match, Mourinho criticized several refereeing decisions and the way Betis managed the match, while praising the performance of his players. The defeat at La Cartuja ended Real Madrid's perfect start to La Liga, while Mourinho suffered his first defeat since returning to the club.
Morata, meanwhile, is enjoying a new phase in his career with Leganes, where he has stated that he has rediscovered the joy of playing football after a difficult period. He has not ruled out the possibility of returning to the Spanish national team in the future.
