At least 109 people have been arrested in connection with suspicions of vote manipulation during the elections in the municipality of Prizren.
The Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren, Petrit Kryeziu, announced that the arrests are related to falsification of results, pressure and intimidation of voters, as well as giving and receiving bribes. He added that the manipulation would not have been possible without the involvement of commissioners delegated by the four main parties in the country.
"Four serious crimes prosecutors have been engaged in the case, where 109 detention decisions have been issued so far. During the investigations, statements were taken from witnesses who identify the persons who received and gave bribes," said Kryeziu.
Investigations continue, as authorities try to clarify all possible implications of the manipulation of the electoral process.
