The Head of the Central Election Commission, Ilirjan Celibashi, has provided information regarding the partial elections to be held in 6 municipalities of Tirana, which have been scheduled by decree by President Bajram Begaj on November 9.
He announced that, according to current estimates, the costs of these elections will reach around 306 million lek.
Celibashi added that a total of 22 Zonal Election Administration Commissions (ZECs) and 1,428 voting centers will be opened.
Emphasizing the limited time available, the head of the CEC announced that they are working intensively 24 hours a day. He also mentioned the possibility of using electronic voting and counting in unit 10 of the capital, however, this has not yet been finally decided.
Asked about the decreeing of the election date even after Erion Veliaj appealed to the Constitutional Court against the decision to dismiss him from office, Celibashki stated that the CEC has a duty to prepare the electoral process and not to question the decision-making of the president or any other institution.
