The debate over the price of oil in Parliament turned this Thursday into a fierce clash between Sali Berisha and Erion Braça, but in the background another battle was clearly visible: that between Braça and Belinda Balluku within the majority.
While accusing the government of imposing the "highest tax in the world" on oil and speaking of massive fuel smuggling, Berisha chose to direct his strongest arrows at Erion Braça, calling him a hypocrite and a fraud against farmers.
Even, in an ironic moment, the leader of the DP seemed to side with Belinda Balluku in the silent conflict with the socialist MP from Fier.
"If Lubia took you away from Fier, and now you don't ask about them at all. Good thing she did!", Berisha addressed Braça from the Parliament podium.
The statement was clearly a direct jab at Braça's loss of political influence in Fier and the dominant role that Belinda Balluku has taken on in the socialist district.
While attacking the government over the price of oil, Berisha also raised accusations of organized fuel smuggling, claiming that "400 thousand tons of oil from Libya" enter Albania and that this, according to him, cannot be done without government support.
