During a meeting at Unit 5 in Tirana, Sali Berisha harshly attacked the media, claiming that "90 percent of the media is controlled by the government" and that their owners have turned into "strategic investors" who benefit from favors and public money.
However, even though he spoke about “captured media” in general, Berisha only mentioned Carlo Bolino and Irfan Hysenbelliu by name. This is the second time in a day that the DP leader has attacked TV and two of their owners.
Regarding Bolino, the DP leader said that he had acquired 4,500 square meters of land for 1 euro, calling him a "thief with boots," while claiming that media owners have benefited from tenders and public projects.
Berisha also attacked television analysts, mentioning Idajet Beqiri, while accusing the government of using the media to create "indifference" among citizens.
At the end of the statement, he said he supports "media freedom" and "the independence of journalists," but warned that he will continue the clash with what he calls the "captured media" until "the last minute of my life."
