VNA has obtained one of the letters that Gazmend Bardhi sent to embassies and international representations in Tirana, where the opposition denounces what it considers "rape of the opposition", violations of democratic standards and attempts at political control of the Assembly.
The letter, signed by Bardhi as chairman of the DP parliamentary group, is addressed to the ambassadors of the US, the European Union, the OSCE and EU countries in Albania.
In the document, the opposition opposes the changes to the Assembly's rules of procedure and the way in which, according to it, the majority is making decisions without consensus with the opposition. Bardhi claims that the Socialists are undermining parliamentary coexistence and are using the majority to control parliamentary committees and processes.
In another part of the letter, he also dwells on the presence of the Guard in the Assembly, claiming that opposition MPs have been intimidated and prevented from exercising their parliamentary functions.
The text even uses an extreme comparison with North Korea, while the opposition calls for the intervention and attention of international partners for the political situation in Albania.
Despite the alarming tone of the letter, neither Niko Peleshi (who is the main accused in that letter) nor the majority has had any public reaction regarding these accusations of the opposition.
Let's see if they have given the embassies a response to write to Gazi.
