Sali Berisha explained today to the deputies of the DP parliamentary group the European Union's progress report on Albania, focusing on how, according to him, this document should be read.
At the parliamentary group meeting, Berisha emphasized that the report should not be interpreted according to the government's version, but in a completely different political reading than the one being publicly presented by the majority.
One of the points he has focused on the most has been the media. During the meeting, he asked Democratic MPs to wage "war" against media owners who, according to him, "serve the mafia," as well as against analysts and commentators who he considers to be in the service of the government.
Berisha has claimed that the progress report highlights serious problems with media freedom and its capture by interests close to power, using this as an argument for a stronger political clash with media critical of the opposition.
According to him, Democratic MPs should use the EU report as evidence not only against the government, but also against what he considers media propaganda in favor of Edi Rama.
