Today's plenary session began with a clash between DP deputies and the head of the SP parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, after the opposition's request for the immediate development of the motion with a debate on the DASH report on the investment climate in Albania. Balla proposed the date of May 14 for the debate, a proposal that was approved by majority votes, amid opposition objections.
Balla accused the DP deputies of being “new lovers of integration”, emphasizing that since September they have not voted on any law related to the EU membership process. In response, Gazment Bardhi stated that the opposition was not made aware of these laws and that the approval of the date of the motion is in violation of the regulation. Jorida Tabaku also objected, saying that the obstacle to integration is not the opposition, but the SP vote against the lifting of Belinda Balluku’s immunity.
Sali Berisha accused the government and Prime Minister Edi Rama of “using parliament” and that the Assembly is protecting “the thefts of the government cabinet.” He focused on the Balluku case, describing the failure to lift her immunity as a “serious violation of the Constitution.”
Meanwhile, the interpellation with Agriculture Minister Andis Salla, requested by Erion Braçe, is expected to take place during the session, as livestock farmers are protesting the lack of subsidies. Braçe was seen entering the Assembly with a bag of vegetables, as a symbol of the problems in the sector.
