The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has also expelled the two Democratic members of the Durrës Municipal Council, Arlind Boshku and Dritan Burgija. In today's statement to the media, Berisha, although he did not present any facts or documents to prove his claims, said that the absences from the Council meetings have led to this decision.
According to him, the two Democratic members have also used their power for personal interests.
"If you are in the Council and go once every six months just to get that money, you do not participate in the Council meetings to protect the interests of the citizens, you betray and kick those who voted for you. If you are in the Council and use your power as a councilor to pave the way or to gain personal favors, this is not the reason why the citizens of Durrës voted for you," he said.
The leader of the DP called their actions contrary to the party's statute, although he himself is the first to have violated the statute by not implementing the article he himself decided, according to which "the chairman who loses the elections is automatically dismissed and has no right to run for re-election."
Beyond Berisha's hypocrisy and the lack of facts for his statements, the two members of the DP in Durres appear to be the next "victims" because they joined Ervin Salianj's meetings.
