Just as they voted for his removal from the leadership of the municipality, the left and right-wing councilors in the Tirana Municipal Council are once again on the same page. Both sides are demanding that Erion Veliaj be physically present at Friday's meeting. The official request was made by the SP councilors after the Constitutional Court's decision, but the DP has also openly stated that it supports this presence.
DP councilor in the Municipal Council, Dorian Teliti, says that the opposition wants Veliaj in the hall to tell him to his face every accusation and every lack of responsibility for Tirana.
"The leftists themselves removed him and are bringing him back for a few hours of freedom. The opposition is not against it, on the contrary, we want him to come, we want to tell him in the hall to his face. They took him out the door, while they are bringing him in through the window," said Teliti.
It now remains in the hands of SPAK and the Prisons Directorate to decide whether Veliaj will be allowed to physically participate in the Tirana Municipal Council meeting.
