The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, seems to have two standards of attitude even when it comes to the protests of citizens that he should support. In today's statement to the media, Berisha was asked why the Democratic Party is not coming to the aid of the residents of Baks-Rrojllit, who have been protesting against the Bashkim Ulaj resort for several weeks with claims that their properties are being robbed.
Unlike last time, when he said he would support the protesters in Velipojë only after verifying whether their claims are based on documents, the Democratic Party leader spoke in general today, saying that the DP supports any type of civic protest.
But without dwelling too much on the problem of the residents of Baks-Rojllit, since the DP has not come out in support of them even once, Berisha justified it by saying that the party cannot be present at every rally.
"If you think that the DP will be part of every protest, I believe that is... the DP supports the protests. The DP supports them politically," Berisha said.
In fact, the DP's distancing from the protests in Velipojë is obvious, given that they do not express themselves with public statements in support of them or denounce them by specific names as in other cases.
Berisha was more relaxed when he spoke about the concerns of the residents of Librazhd and Prenjas who have been isolated due to the collapses in the body of the axis connecting these two cities. He accused Prime Minister Edi Rama as the author and main responsible for this scandal, emphasizing that the collapses were not caused by nature or weather, but by the hand of man and corrupt affairs, after the sharing of money with contractors.
The leader of the Democratic Party did not provide details about the opposition's protest strategy on February 28, but said that it will be a triumph for Albanians.
