The debates at the closed-door meeting of the Presidency of the Democratic Party continued in strong tones, with Ervin Salianji addressing the leader of the DP, Sali Berisha, with a direct question about the functioning of the party and its statute.
According to sources from the meeting, Salianji raised concerns that DP leaders are being prevented from holding meetings with grassroots democratic structures and membership, considering this a deviation from the party's principles of functioning.
"Which article of the statute prohibits us from meeting with the Democrats?", Salianji is reported to have asked Berisha during discussions in the Presidency, questioning the restrictions placed on political activities in the field.
Sources indicate that this intervention further increased tensions in the meeting, which was accompanied by fierce debates and verbal clashes between leaders. Salijanj's question was interpreted as a direct criticism of the way of leadership and decision-making within the Democratic Party.
The Presidency meeting is still ongoing, while up to now there has been no official reaction or position from Sali Berisha or the DP leadership structures regarding the debate./News 24
