In Tirana, they may seem like they are at war. In the parliament hall, they clash, accuse each other and talk about a political crisis. But a trip abroad is enough and the atmosphere changes immediately.
This is what happened this time in Rome.
Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku is sitting at the same table with representatives of the government and the majority: Arbër Mazniku, Iris Luarasi and Ardit Bido. A photo published by Tabaku herself on social networks shows the moment of the friendly meeting during the visit to Italy.
On Facebook she writes:
"Delighted to meet Senator Raffaele De Rosa on the first day of meetings in Italy.
We exchanged views on the friendship between our countries and Albania's journey towards the EU, as well as on the importance of increasing Italian investments and strategic projects in the country."
So, while in Tirana the clash between the SP and the DP is presented as a permanent political conflict, in Rome it seems that the parties find common ground much more easily.
Because in Albanian politics there are two stages:
one for the public and the other for official trips. In the first they become sworn opponents, while in the second they turn into a joint delegation that discusses "friendship between countries" and strategic projects.
