The DP branch in Kukës has reacted harshly to the meeting held by former MP Ervin Salianji with representatives of this political force in the northern city, describing it as an attempt to cause division within the party.
In an official statement, the local branch of the DP considered the meeting an "ugly political act" and a private meeting that, according to it, did not represent the party's structures or true membership in Kukes.
According to the reaction, the meeting was not attended by city democrats, but by a small group of individuals who did not represent any official structure or the will of the grassroots. “This was not a meeting with the democrats of Kukës,” the statement said, emphasizing that Salijanj's attempt to create the perception of a new movement is far from the reality of the Democratic Party.
The DP branch in Kukes emphasizes its loyalty to the leadership of Sali Berisha, saying that it remains united and rejects any attempt that undermines the unity of the opposition at an important political moment.
"The Democratic Party of Kukes stands united, strong and fully loyal to the leadership of Prof. Dr. Sali Berisha," the statement says.
At the end of the statement, although the municipality has been run by the Socialists for several years, the Kukës Democratic Party underlines that the city has been and will remain a strong bastion of the Democratic Party, expressing support for the current leadership.
