Nothing is as it seems, especially in politics. While on Sunday they waged another battle to overthrow the government, this Wednesday they sat down together, not just for formality, but with a pact.
In the territorial reform committee, Arbjan Mazniku informed the Assembly that he had met several times with Luciano Boçi, the co-chair from the DP, to draft a joint two-month calendar to move forward together.
Even the democrat himself, who had apparently forgotten the battles with water, gas, and Molotov cocktails in the square, promised gentler communication today in the committee, without "fire," as he put it.
According to the work plan provided by VNA, the parties will travel together until May 19 across the country for meetings with mayors and community leaders.
Mazniku, PS: I have met several times with Boçi, we have a joint work plan. Hearings with the mayors of municipalities here in the commission, two regions together in one day. In about 4 weeks we hear the mayors of all regions.
Together we will go to the field twice a week in all regions until the end of April.
From May 1st we will start in the Assembly with thematic hearings, such as competencies and specific topics.
This agenda creates a clear structure for us to reach out to the parties, actors, experts and responsible institutions.
Boçi, PD: This reform should not be simply political decision-making, but should be based on the basic work of experts, because it affects the organization of the state in the territory, service to citizens and local democracy. Experts should act independently, with a serious and detailed product. Draw out the consequences of the 2015 reform.
The public is very interested in the territorial reform and they think that it will be the product of closed political agreements. The public expects something else, that it contains your knowledge, professionalism and conscience. Your work will be very orienting for our actions.
Since there is a preliminary agreement, I think the debates here will not be as heated as before.
I wish the committee success as well.
