The Chairman of the DP Parliamentary Group has asked the Speaker of the Assembly to avoid provocations against the opposition. The DP demands that Peleshi take measures to normalize parliamentary life and immediately stop provocative acts against the opposition and its behavior in the Albanian Parliament.
According to the DP group, any unilateral change by the Assembly of the rights of minority deputies, or the 34-year-old interpretation of the Assembly's Rules of Procedure, is an attack on parliamentarism and annihilation of the rights of the parliamentary opposition, and consequently is and will be unacceptable for opposition deputies.
DP's letter:
Mr. Speaker of the Assembly,
With your order no. 24, dated 24.10.2025, you have called the plenary session on 27.10.2025, at 10:00, announcing the agenda. The agenda, in items 5-9, includes the Reports of several independent constitutional institutions, where, according to the agreement of the Conference of Speakers, a debate time of 150 minutes has been left for each report.
On behalf of the DP Parliamentary Group, we confirm our request for the debate to take place and also the time allocated by you – 150 minutes after each report.
I also ask you to avoid any provocation towards opposition MPs, by allowing each of them to present their questions, to each head of institution, according to Article 103, point 7 of the Rules of Procedure and the 34-year-old parliamentary practice. Any unilateral change on your part of the rights of minority MPs, or the 34-year-old interpretation of the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly, is an attack on parliamentarism and annihilation of the rights of the parliamentary opposition, and consequently is and will be unacceptable to opposition MPs.
Regarding the above, in exercising your responsibilities, please take measures to normalize parliamentary life and immediately stop provocative acts against the opposition and its completely constructive behavior in the Albanian Parliament.
