The Criminal Court of Kosovo again postponed the next session for the preliminary hearing of the criminal case against Mayor Erion Veliaj and 29 co-defendants. The session is postponed to January 19.
The reason for the postponement of the trial was the absence of two of the defense attorneys, one of whom was the attorney primarily assigned to Veliaj. Sources said that the attorney, via email, requested a postponement because she was abroad.
Mayor Veliaj was not present at the hearing. He is accused of 13 criminal charges, 9 of which are for corruption. His wife Ajola Xoxa and 28 other people, including businessmen and former SP MP Klotilda Bushka, are also under indictment.
