The Secretariat for Procedures, Voting and Ethics met today to review the request of the Socialist Party, which sought the imposition of a disciplinary measure against the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha.
After discussions, the Secretariat decided to suspend Berisha from the Assembly for 10 days. This measure came at the request of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, which had proposed a 30-day suspension, following Berisha's statements regarding the position of the European Union Ambassador to Tirana, Silvio Gonzato, on the gender equality law.
The decision is expected to be formalized in the next plenary session, while Sali Berisha's 10-day suspension from the Assembly's proceedings enters into force immediately upon approval.
