Aulon Kalaja has published the court summons on Facebook today, announcing that he has been sued for defamation by the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, and that the court hearing against him has been scheduled for November 6, at 10:00 AM, at the Tirana Court of First Instance.
Kalaja writes that Veliaj should speak out for Prime Minister Edi Rama "if he wants to do Albania any favors," while emphasizing that he is not afraid of this lawsuit and that he is ready to face it in court.
In his statement he says, among other things:
"For some time now, I have been calling on Erion Veliaj that once in his life, if he would do at least one favor for Albania, it is to speak out about what he knows about Edi Rama."
But Erion Veliaj did not sue Edi Rama, but sued me in court for defamation!
"If you think that with such methods you can scare me, you are mistaken. You will have me in front of you and I will have you in front of me. Forget that I make deals. My fight is public and uncompromising."
Kalaja declares that he is not afraid of the trial and that he "has not asked about the gangs or their bosses", adding that in court he will "verify every word".
The hearing is expected to take place on November 6, where, according to the published summons, Veliaj will be an injured party in the criminal proceedings against Kalaja. So far, there has been no public reaction from Veliaj.
