The leader of the Together Movement, Arlind Qori, commented on Saturday evening on Euronews Albania on the statements of the suspended mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, during the session at the Constitutional Court. Qori spoke on the show regarding Veliaj's speech at the Constitutional Court where he stated that "tomorrow in his place could be Flori, Ogerta or Arlindi", who are candidates for the Municipality of Tirana.
In his reaction, Qori stated that Veliaj is trying to create a moral balance between himself and other political figures, which according to him is unacceptable.
"Veliaj seeks to establish political and moral equivalence between himself and me, to show that we are all the same and that only opportunity has kept us from stealing. But he belongs in prison, and he should have been there a long time ago, for the destructive permits in Tirana, for the alienation of cultural heritage and for the incinerator affair," declared Qori.
He added that Veliaj's dismissal was a fair decision and that the argument that an official cannot be dismissed without a final decision is unfounded.
"If a final decision were expected, then any person in power would be able to drag out the processes endlessly, tamper with evidence, and benefit from the privileges of power," Qori emphasized.
In the end, he invited Veliaj to cooperate with justice and reveal the persons with whom he shared responsibilities.
"I hope that Veliaj will return to being a collaborator of justice, to reveal his accomplices and the oligarchs with whom he shared power. Meanwhile, with as many opportunities as he has left, he is trying to use public appearances only for media propaganda," Qori concluded.
