The German Embassy in Tirana has reacted to the incidents recorded during the opposition protest the day before, strongly condemning the acts of violence.
In an official statement, the embassy emphasizes that political protests and the right to demonstrate are essential in a democratic society, but cannot justify violence against persons or objects.
"The German Embassy condemns the unacceptable violence during yesterday's demonstrations. Political protests and the right to demonstrate are fundamental rights in any democratic society. But they can never justify violence against persons or objects," the response states.
Furthermore, the embassy calls on representatives of political parties to take responsibility and clearly distance themselves from acts of violence.
"We ask the representatives of responsible political parties to unequivocally distance themselves from violence," the statement concludes.
