Prime Minister Edi Rama, in the next episode of the "Flasim" podcast, focused on the increase in fuel prices, announcing immediate intervention by the government.
He announced that a temporary reduction of about 20% in the excise tax on diesel has been imposed, with the aim of easing the burden on citizens and vehicle users. In parallel, a task force has been established to increase controls and identify any possible abuse in the market.
According to Rama, no violations have been found at present, but monitoring continues intensively. He stressed that, due to the recent price increase, the transparency board will also be reinstated to prevent abusive benefits from the situation.
The Prime Minister underlined that any additional revenue in the budget from price increases, after the excise tax reduction, will be used to support pensioners.
