The next hearing on the security measure against former President Ilir Meta was held at the GJKKO this Monday. Unlike the first hearing, this time opposition MPs were also present at the GJKKO premises in support of the PL leader.
The session was attended by MPs Flamur Noka, Klevis Balliu and Tedi Blushi.
Meta himself was not present in the courtroom, as he had sent a statement stating that he would not participate in the hearing on the security measure, but would only be present at the trial on the merits.
The former president was represented by his lawyer, Kujtim Cakrani, who again requested a change to the measure of "prison arrest". According to him, lighter measures could be applied to Meta, such as "compulsion to appear", "ban on leaving the country", property guarantees or even "house arrest".
However, the GJKKO again rejected Meta's request for release from the cell. It is learned that he had also offered a financial guarantee of 50 thousand euros for the change of the security measure, but the request was rejected by the court.
Meanwhile, the GJKKO is also holding a hearing on the merits of the case against Meta and the other defendants. Attorney Kujtim Cakrani told the media that he hoped for a positive decision for his client.
