A minor is among 23 people escorted by the State Police following the violence recorded during today's protest called by the Democratic Party in front of the Prime Minister's Office and the Parliament.
According to the official announcement, during the rally, attacks with Molotov cocktails, pyrotechnics and hard objects were recorded against the police, as a result of which 11 police officers were injured and received medical assistance at the Trauma Hospital and the burn unit. They were visited by leaders of the Tirana Local Police.
Police say that, despite continuous calls to stop the violence, aggressive acts have continued, forcing them to intervene to disperse the crowd in accordance with the law.
As part of the investigations, the investigative group under the leadership of the Tirana Prosecutor's Office has begun documenting the violent acts, while police services are analyzing the footage to identify the persons involved.
During the verification of the age of the escorted persons, one of them turned out to be a minor. The police inform that the parents were immediately notified and that the minor was not kept in the escort premises, but remained in the citizens' reception office until he was taken in by his family.
The case of a minor's involvement in episodes of violence during the protest has raised questions about the safety of children at political rallies and the responsibility of organizers for their presence in dangerous situations.
