A day ago, VNA reported that the Durrës Court placed under seizure a hidden asset of the former Tirana judge, Arjan Aliaj, which he allegedly acquired in the form of a bribe due to a court decision. Aliaj had not declared the asset in his asset declarations or in that vetting. According to the prosecution, he had even filed a fictitious divorce from his wife to hide this asset.
Former judge Aliaj himself, who has left the justice system as part of the Vetting process, has stated that he has no connection to the property that is considered hidden by him. He says that his brother donated this property to his other brother and his ex-wife, as they served his parents with whom they lived in the same apartment until 2007.
Also, Pëllumb Rrapo, the judge's brother who reportedly lived in Spain from 1996-2008 where he worked as a restorer of works of art and religious objects, states that he had rented out the house and, unable to sell it, donated it to his sister-in-law's brother, because they had taken care of his parents when they were sick. The property has already been seized by the Sequestered and Confiscated Assets Administration Agency, while the former judge is expected to be charged.
