A movie-like escape has rocked the Opera prison in Milan, where 41-year-old Albanian Taulant Toma managed to escape by cutting the bars of his cell and using tied sheets to climb out of the window.

Toma, convicted of a number of crimes including robbery, was in a maximum security unit and is now being sought by Italian authorities across the country. Investigators have begun analyzing footage from the prison's security cameras to reconstruct the incident and to verify whether he had help from other prisoners. They are also investigating any contacts Toma may have had in the hours before his escape.

This is not the first escape for Taulant Toma. He has managed to escape from Italian prisons four times before, in 2009 from the Terni prison, in February 2013 from the Parma prison, where he was captured a few months later in Belgium, and then from a prison near the city of Liège.
The recent incident in Milan has alarmed authorities and brought attention back to the dangerousness of this convict, who appears to have sophisticated escape skills.
