The show "Në Shënjestër", with author Klodiana Lala, brought new details this Tuesday from the SPAK computer hacking case, where three people are under indictment, among them the former Director General of Prisons, Agim Ismaili.
According to the investigative file, Ismaili stated that the investigative materials were brought to him by Zambak Gjoni, one of the accused, and that they were related to several investigations conducted against Damian Gjiknuri. He claimed that he did not discuss these materials with other people and that he treated them “with humor.”
However, Ismaili admitted that he distributed the documents to third parties, while denying having any knowledge of the hacking of SPAK prosecutors' emails or of any internal corruption in the institution.
The investigation team, on the other hand, has raised reasonable doubts about Ismail's special interest in investigative materials, an interest that, according to the investigation, is also clearly evident from his request to direct the search towards the name of the Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja. This orientation, according to SPAK, was made through Zambak Gjoni, who then addressed Arnold Rrokaj - the person suspected of having accessed the emails of several SPAK prosecutors.
In the administered testimonies, various investigative materials that have been distributed are mentioned: communications and wiretaps from the Arben Ahmetaj file, investigative materials in "Word" format for Damian Gjiknuri, arrest warrants for various citizens, apartment search reports, as well as letters addressed to foreign authorities, including Austria. Also, according to Zambak Gjoni, Arnold Rrokaj had also given him a link and password to access the Sky platform wiretaps, although he claims that he has not been able to access them.
Investigations have revealed that these materials were distributed not only to Agim Ismaili, but also to other friends and two journalists, while Ismaili turns out to be the person with whom Zambak Gjoni had the most constant contact.
In his testimony, Ismaili acknowledged his acquaintance and close relationship with Gjoni since 2019, describing their professional cooperation at the Prisons Directorate and then at IKMT. He insisted that he did not understand the significance of the materials at the time he distributed them and that the conversations about specific names, including that of Minister Manja, were in the context of a "joke".
The investigative group, meanwhile, estimates that Ismail's interest in compromising files is related to his dismissal from the post of director of prisons, signed by the Minister of Justice, after the inspections of the Supreme Audit Office. According to this track, the orientation of the searches towards the name of Ulsi Manja aimed at finding incriminating materials for his political superior.
Investigations continue for the criminal offense of illegal interception of computer data, committed in the form of cooperation in a structured criminal group.
