The escape of Ramadan Zoto, otherwise known as "Dane", who was declared wanted by the State Police after the double injury that occurred in Saranda during July, has ended.
Zoto is accused of having, after a previous conflict, wounded two citizens from Kamza, Gëzim Hajdaraj, 33, and Ernest Lama, 25, with a pistol. The incident led to an extensive investigation and his being declared a national wanted man.
This morning, the Police structures finalized the operation by handcuffing him in the city of Korça, where he was accompanied by a trusted person, Arben Ismailaj. The two individuals turned out to have previously been together in a prison in Greece.
During the operation, Ismailaj, who had previously been declared wanted by the Fier Police Department, was also arrested. On August 17, 2025, during a search of his apartment in Fier by the Vlora Police Department's investigation structures in cooperation with the Tirana Special Operations Force Directorate, the police discovered and seized an arsenal of weapons.
According to the official announcement of the State Police, the following were found in his apartment:
a Model 56 automatic firearm,
a silencer,
two Model 54 TT pistols,
a small-caliber model pistol,
as well as a significant amount of combat ammunition.
As a result, Arben Ismailaj is facing charges for the criminal offense of "Unauthorized production and possession of weapons and ammunition", while Ramadan Zoto, in addition to the double wounding, is expected to face other charges. The police have announced that investigations into this incident are continuing, with the aim of fully clarifying the circumstances and other possible criminal connections of the two arrested.
