The Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo, in cooperation with the Kosovo Police and the Institute of Forensic Medicine, has confirmed the discovery of bone remains suspected of belonging to at least 23 people, who may be victims of the recent war in Kosovo.
According to the SPRK, during the actions carried out within the framework of the investigations, teams from the Institute of Forensic Medicine have identified bone remains. The final identification of the victims will be made after the completion of the forensic examinations and relevant procedures.
Investigations are continuing by the Special Prosecution Office and the Kosovo Police, through the Directorate for the Investigation of War Crimes, in cooperation with other competent institutions.
In connection with this case, three people, JR, MJ and MB, are under investigation for the criminal offense of "War crimes against the civilian population" and are in custody.
The authorities have stated that the process will continue professionally and impartially, aiming to fully document the case and identify the victims, with respect for the families of the missing persons.
