Iran has announced the suspension of implementation of its commitments under the latest memorandum of understanding with the United States, accusing Washington of violating the agreement.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stated that the US "has violated and suspended all its commitments" under the memorandum of understanding reached in Islamabad.
"We have also suspended our commitments, we are not implementing them and we are engaged in defending the country," Gharibabadi said in a statement published by the semi-official Iranian Fars news agency.
Tehran's decision comes at a time when tensions between Iran and the US have increased significantly, with the two countries continuing to exchange attacks in the Middle East.
The memorandum of understanding, brokered by Pakistan and signed in June, was intended to halt military escalation and pave the way for a broader peace agreement. However, recent developments have renewed uncertainty over the future of dialogue between the two sides.
