The Book Fair has opened and on its first day alone, thousands of citizens have "visited" the stands of publishing houses. It is reported that the interest of readers has been high, but there are no "offers" for discounts or affordable prices. Therefore, this year too, the book will be "expensive" and with little chance of reaching everyone's hands.
But while we wait a year to see new developments in the field of books, today the National Library, the institution that should be an "oasis" of reading and distributing "free" books, has been left to wither.
Led by one of the owners of the largest bookstore in the country, today the National Library has been held hostage to not develop it, to leave it in a state of decay until the destruction of books and the culture of reading in the country.
And if this "forgetfulness" is not intentional, then what else could it be?
Therefore, every reader today should feel the revolt against the "usurpation" of the library and its liberation from the apathy that has gripped it. Because while intellectuals remain silent, it is the duty of each of us to raise our voices for our rights, taken hostage and denied for years.
