Manjola Nikollo, the former leader of the Democratic Party in Saranda, has been appointed as deputy mayor of the coastal city. Her appointment reportedly took place yesterday.
Her appointment comes in the wake of the transition of several representatives from the ranks of the Democrats to those of the Socialist Party.
Most recently, former DP MP Gjenni Gjergji was also appointed director of the hospital in Elbasan. The latter, in a long Facebook status, wrote that she accepted the position in the name of sacrifice for the profession.
The recent moves of former DP officials and MPs have angered its leader, Sali Berisha, the most. During a press conference, he said that anyone who accepts such positions will be expelled from the party.
