Albanian National Team captain, Berat Gjimshiti, is very close to leaving Atalanta to start a new adventure in Saudi Arabia.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Saudi club Al Diriyah has reached a verbal agreement with Atalanta for the transfer of the Albanian defender. All that is now awaited is the completion of the procedures and the signing of the documents to formalize the deal.
It is reported that Al Diriyah will pay around 3 million euros for the 33-year-old, who is expected to sign a contract valid until June 2028.
After a long and successful career in Italian football, Gjimshiti looks set to close his chapter at Atalanta. The defender joined the Bergamo club in 2016 from Zurich and has become one of the team's most important figures, making over 250 appearances in Serie A.
He was also one of the protagonists of Atalanta's historic success in winning the UEFA Europa League in the 2023/24 season, while for years he has been a regular part of the team in the Champions League.
With this transfer, Gjimshiti is expected to begin his first experience in Saudi football, while Al Diriyah aims to benefit from the experience and qualities of the captain of the Albanian National Team.
