Iran wants to talk and make an offer that aims to meet US demands, according to Donald Trump, who spoke to the Reuters news agency.
"They're making an offer and we'll see," Trump said during a telephone interview.
When asked who the US was negotiating with, Trump said: "I don't want to say that, but we're dealing with the people who are responsible right now."
Meanwhile, his envoys Witkoff and Kushner are heading to Pakistan to meet with Iran's foreign minister and begin talks.
Trump also spoke about other issues with the news agency, including the King's visit to the US next week.
He said he plans to discuss a range of issues with King Charles during his state visit, including Iran, NATO and the British government's Digital Services Tax on big American tech firms.
