The perpetrator of the attack in Washington, 31-year-old Cole Thomas Allen, is a "sick person" who "hates Christians," US President Donald Trump said in an interview with Fox News.
"Just read his manifesto. Even his brother and sister complained about him and reported him to the authorities," Trump said.
The US President also added that he and the First Lady are fine after the incident that occurred during the White House Correspondents' Association dinner.
"I'm fine, and the First Lady is fine," Trump said. "We cannot allow these criminals and bad people to change the course of events in our country."
He stressed that he had prepared a speech for the correspondents' dinner, but will now change it for when the event is rescheduled.
"It will be a speech of love," Trump said.
