Iran's Attorney General, Movahedi Azad, has declared that all protesters will be charged as "enemies of God" or "mohareb," a charge that could carry the death penalty, Iranian state media reported.
According to Movahedi Azad, this action will apply to demonstrators and terrorists who damage property, undermine security, as well as those who assist them. He added that prosecutors should prepare trials quickly and show no “leniency, mercy or tolerance.”
Tehran's prosecutor, Ali Salehi, also confirmed yesterday that protesters could face charges of being a heretic, emphasizing the severity of legal measures against participants in the recent protests.
