Iran has warned of an even harsher response in the event of new attacks on its energy infrastructure, following yesterday's bombing of the South Pars gas complex.
The spokesman for the Khatam al-Anbiya central headquarters, Ebrahim Zolfaqari, told Iranian media that the attack on the Islamic Republic's energy facilities was a "grave mistake" and that Iran's response is still under development.
"We warn the enemy that it has committed a big mistake by attacking Iran's energy infrastructure. Our response is in progress and has not yet been completed," he said. Zolfaqari added that if such attacks are repeated, the energy targets of the adversaries and their allies could be targeted until they are completely destroyed, warning of an even stronger response.
Meanwhile, twelve Arab and Islamic countries have condemned the attacks carried out by Iran, calling on Tehran to stop them. In a joint statement, the foreign ministers stressed that such attacks "cannot be justified in any way and under any pretext."
The statement was made after a meeting called by Saudi Arabia, attended by representatives from Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Pakistan, Qatar, Syria, Turkey, Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates.
